Fire Kai and The Slope Are Teaming Up Across the Western Slope
Colorado's Western Slope is one of those places people get protective of. It has its own pace and its own personality, and the folks who live here don't bother with the full name. They just call it The Slope.
So as Fire Kai grows its production work in Colorado, we went looking for people who know the place for real, not the postcard version. We found them.
Fire Kai is partnering with The Slope, the local guide that covers Colorado's Western Slope. The name fits, because it's what people here actually call home.
Who They Are
If you live out this way, you've probably already come across them. The Slope tracks more than 70 communities, from Steamboat down to Telluride and most of what sits in between. Events, local businesses, trail conditions, news, the small stuff that only makes sense once you've spent some time around here. Their tagline is "by locals, for locals," and they mean it literally.
That's the part we kept coming back to. There's a difference between writing about a region and being part of one. The Slope knows which trail dries out first in spring and which spot in Carbondale earns the extra twenty minutes in the car. You can't really fake that. Either you're from here or you aren't, and they are. In a way that's hard to put any other way, they don't just cover the Western Slope. They are the Western Slope.
Why It Works
Fire Kai makes things. We find stories and figure out how to tell them well, and as we put down more roots in Colorado, we wanted partners who could keep that work honest. The Slope brings the local knowledge and the trust they've earned with their readers. We bring the production side.
They know the Slope. We know how to tell a story. It's not a complicated pitch.
What's Next
Over the next few months we'll be working with The Slope to spotlight the people and businesses and places that give Western Colorado its character, and to help that work reach past the state line. There's a lot out here the rest of the country hasn't seen yet.
Want a feel for what they do? Start with their site. Events, businesses, outdoor guides, local news, it's all there.
More soon.
